Picture the scene...
It's a gloriously sunny June day and you're enjoying a quiet moment in the shade as the aromas of the finest local produce combine on a blissfully cooling summer breeze. You've already had a browse of the hundred or so exhibits on show - although you know you'll need to go round again to take it all in properly. First, though, it's time to decide what to have for lunch. You're pretty full from all the samples of olives, cheese, ice cream, summer fruits and delicate pastries you've tried, but the sizzle of the nearby grill and the scent of yet more sumptuous produce is too much to resist. You'll have to be quick though, there's another cooking demonstration starting in half an hour and you also want to make time to sit and enjoy the live music before a leisurely stroll around the vintage vehicle displays and the stunning floral arrangements inside the breathtaking village church. Also, it would be rude to leave before you've sampled a glass or two of the award winning real ale on offer.
You're one of the thousands of visitors expected at the Shobdon Food & Flower Festival which promises to reaffirm Herefordshire's reputation as one of the country's best-kept culinary secrets. The finest collection of producers, chefs, farmers, musicians and master-craftspeople will again assemble at our beautifully spacious show ground for your enjoyment. This year's event coincides with our tri-annual village Flower Festival - the theme of which is, 'A Time for Everything' and we'll again have a full programme of evening events and concerts.
Meanwhile, back to your day...
Laden down with your purchases: a jar of local honey; a few fresh strawberries; some succulent Herefordshire beef and several bottles of that ale you liked so much, you're ready to make your way home. A shame you didn't have enough time to visit the bespoke arts and craft marquee where you could have watched the carpenter or one of the talented local artists at work. And how did you miss all the horticultural exhibits? The sweet smell of the organic herbs have been following you around since you arrived. Still, never mind - you can always come back tomorrow.
Perhaps we'll see you in June?
